A Message from the Headteacher

Mrs Mary Copeland MED

Educating the Women of Tomorrow’ is more than a motto – it is our mission and purpose. I am proud to be the Headteacher at Belle Vue Girls' School. I begin the term with the best results ever at GCSE with 45% achieving 5A*-C including English and Math’s. This is an increase of 10%. 56% gained 5A*-C and 99.4% achieved 5A*-G. Excellent results were also achieved at A level with all students taking up a Higher Education place who wished to.

The new sixth form block opened at the beginning of term. This provides an excellent study area for students, 5 designated classrooms and a sixth form Science laboratory. The new uniform looks stunning and I thank all parents for their support with this change. The school community is truly outstanding in all aspects as Ofsted found in March.

As a staff, we want our students to develop their confidence as learners and citizens so that they will achieve the success they deserve and need in this rapidly changing world. As a result we took 12 students to China in the summer break. They not only visited one of the most exciting cities in the world, Shanghai but also had the opportunity to spend time with Chinese students of a similar age at their school. An life changing experience was had by all. Much of our strength derives from the support we receive from parents, from the communities we serve and from the school Governors. We are proud to be a local school serving local communities.

We have excellent facilities, high quality teaching, committed and sensitive support and guidance and an environment that encourages high expectations of behaviour and social responsibility. We know this is true as it has been verified by our Ofsted report. We are outstanding in all aspects.

We have the distinctive accolade of a specialism in Modern Foreign Languages and one in Science with Maths. We are also concerned to bring the world to our students through links with schools around the globe. Our commitment to offer a range of opportunities across the curriculum throughout the school is a further indication of developing friendships around the world among people from different cultures, ethnic heritage, religions or language groups.

We are optimistic about the future of our school and of the individual students who wear the Belle Vue uniform. Girls of all abilities thrive, make progress and achieve well here. This is an exciting time for us as we continue to develop our facilities to meet the changing demands of the curriculum and the changing interests of the students and staff.
