Welcome to the PE Department

Key Stage 3

At Key Stage 3, we aim to offer a broad range of activities in the Physical Education Curriculum to enable pupils to gain a wide range of experiences.  Pupils have the opportunity to work on acquiring and developing skills and understanding in a variety of activities.  In years 7 to 9, the following activities are taught:

Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Dance / Cheerleading, Football, Health Related Exercise, Netball, Rounders,Volleyball

Key Stage 4

At Key Stage 4, the following activities are taught:

Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Health Related Exercise, Netball, Rounders

BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate in Sport

In Year 10 pupils work towards the Extended Certificate in Sport over a two year period.  There are a total of four units pupils have to achieve that are broadly equivalent to two GCSEs.  The course is designed to build on learning from Key Stage 3 and for those who may wish to explore a vocational route throughout Key Stage 4.

BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Sport

In year 12 pupils work towards the Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Sport over a two year period.  There are a total of seven units pupils have to achieve which is broadly equivalent to one A Level.  In their first year they will complete four units and in their second year, the remaining three units.

Extra-Curricular Activities
We offer a wide range of activities which take place on different days from 3.10 to 4.10.  Our most popular clubs are football, cricket, fitness and rounders.

Lunch Time Clubs
As a department we offer a wide range of activities which take place every lunch time, starting at 12.10 and finishing at 12.45.  Clubs include badminton, basketball, rounders and football.  All clubs are open to all year groups and take place in the school gym or sports hall. 

Sixth Form Activities
Sixth form girls are invited to attend numerous activities throughout the school week.  These activities include Health Related Exercises in Zara Sports Centre.  Badminton, football, table tennis and dance are also offered.

Citizenship group reach district final of the Mock Trial Competition.

Year 7 admissions for September 2012 reach record level.
